Corregidor: Malinta Tunnel

One of the highlights of Frustrated Sosyalera's Corregidor Tour...




... is the Malinta Tunnel.






Manong guard is all smiles. Sanay sa pikchur!






The tunnel had been dug through solid rock and offered complete protection from artillery or air attack. Command communications and medical units were located there. Gen. MacArthur set up the headquarters of USAFFE inside the tunnel where men and women would live and work during the siege of Corregidor. The tunnel was originally designed to house huge quantities of ammunition, food and supplies, and an underground hospital with a 1,000-bed capacity. The location of the tunnel beneath Malinta Hill made it ideal as a bomb-proof headquarters for the embattled Filipino and Americans defenders of Corregidor during World War II. During the siege of Corregidor, a number of shops and storage areas were added. -- corregidorisland.com







Token mood shot from moi. It's not just an old tunnel, it's also a theater! Tourists can opt to watch a light and sound show inside called the Malinta Experience.





Tickets to the show cost Php 180 (I think, I've forgotten now, but it's definitely less than Php 200).





The show was directed by Lamberto Avellana, the sculptures were crafted by Napoleon Abueva and narrated by the late Frankie Evangelista. Thank goodness for the show, or the tunnel would've just given me the heebie-jeebies.





For visitors staying overnight, they can avail of the "Night Tour" of the Malinta Tunnel, where they can explore other areas not included during the day.






I think I'm satisfied with the exploration that I've done. Any more and I think it'll just give me a heart attack. Creeeeeepy.





But maybe I'll change my mind, you never know.

Grabeh, napaka-productive ko ngayon sa work ha, for a change!

Kasi ba naman itong kapatid kong si Isang, pinamaskuhan ako ng libro:

O di ba?  Ang heavy, man.

At dahil nanghihinayang ako kung di ko sya basahin, sinimulan ko na.  Ok naman pala, readable at di mashadong technical.  Para ka lang umatend ng seminar.  Yun nga lang kelangan interesado ka talaga. hehehe!

Problema nga lang nung binabasa ko na sya, parang sila ang 21 Laws na di ko sinusunod sa opisina.  Guilt trip!

So ayun, ganado tuloy ako magtrabaho today.  Sana lang magtuluy-tuloy di ba?  Hehehe

   Si Frustrated Sosyalera umuwi ng Marikina para mag-celebrate ng New Year's Eve kasama ng pamilya nya, at feeling nya boring na naman ang pagsalubong na ito.

Ngunit...!!!


Ang kapatid nyang si Isang ay nabato at nag-decide na mag-praktis mag-makeup.  Dali-dali naman akong nag-volunteer na maging biktima.  Hahaha!




Voila!  (Oo, alam kong di pantay -- praktisan lang naman eh noh, di naman kme aalis ng bahay. hehe!)

It's that time o' the year again

  Happy New Year guys!


Do I really need to list down my resolutions for 2009? I don't think I will follow them anyway, but I think I'll copy down last year's list because they're still outstanding. hehe!


Ang Tatlong P ng 2009

1. Pera
I will still aim to save at least Php 100k by December 2009.

2. Payat
I have gained 6lbs since the beginning of December! At my height of 5'2", I am overweight at 128lbs, so I need to lose 20lbs this year. Gooooooooooooodluck.

3. Pag-aaral
Well this is one thing I think I've done ok with -- I learned to speak Spanish in 2008. But I've forgotten everything now, so time to go back to Instituto Cervantes! XD



This is just 3 items, but I'm sure there's a lot more to think about. It's just that these are the 3 most important ones.

Now sticking to these rules is a different story...

I've found out at work yesterday that men can have breast cancer too.

wtf???

Kala ko accesories lang ng boys ang mga nipples nila at ang man-boobs ay non-functional, yun pala pwede rin silang magkaron ng kanser sa man-boobs.

ano kaya feeling ng mga lalaking meron nito?  baka mas gusto pa nilang mag-suicide kasi nakakabading ang sakit nila.  tsk tsk.

Takipsilim -- Twilight Series Pinoy Style

We were hanging out with a few friends last night when I heard some very disconcerting news --


That ABS-CBN is planning to make a Filipino version of the Twilight series.


I am definitely NOT a fan of the Stephenie Meyer books and I doubt if I ever will be judging from their fanbase antics. They are so into Edward and the gang, shrieking their way to the cinemas only recently, that they have put me off reading the books completely.

And now, there will be a Pinoy version??? Give me a farking break.



It will apparently be topbilled by Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao as the Romeo+Juliet of the undead world.


But wait, there's more!

There is an issue now making the chismis rounds that this news is a hoax! I am inclined to agree just because the poster above is quite badly Photoshopped. Pfttt.

The whole malarkey just keeps getting better and better, because one multiply site even posted a link to the ABS-CBN news site that claims the network posted an official statement that they are indeed making the film remakes. For some reason though, when you click that link you get an error saying "You are not authorised to access this page."


What the blurdy hell is going on here???


So is it a hoax or not? Who cares!


The whole Twilight obsession is bad enough and if the Pinoy version goes through then maybe I'll just make like a Kamikaze and commit suicide because the world will be ending due to bakya-ness.
